The UNLV Community Garden
Seed Library

About the Seed Library:
Hello and welcome! The seed library was established this year with a very gracious donation of over 200 seeds from the company, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. Modeled from many other seed library programs, it is a super awesome resource that
we are really proud to bring to the community garden this year. We hope that the establishment of a seed library at the UNLV Community Garden this year would help improve the availability and variety of sustainable food and teach students, faculty, and staff how to properly save them.

The Purpose of a Seed Library:
-
Empowering community members to grow their own food by offering free seeds.
-
Support food security and improve access to the freshest, healthiest food possible.
-
Provide a culturally diverse selection of seeds so the multitude of cultures represented in our community can grow foods that reflect their palate and preferences.
-
Connect people to community resources for planting, growing, harvesting, and seed saving.
-
Learn how to save seeds for the next growing season, share with friends and family, and return seeds to the Seed Library.
